or just need some sweet escape?
Camotes is the perfect place for you. Regardless if you are traveling alone,
with a group of friends, a lover,
or with your family.
Camotes is just the right place.
It offers variety of things that you can
enjoy while staying in the island.
If you are soul searching and
just want to unwind Santiago White Beach
would be a good place to stay.
Though it would be a different experience if you will go there on a peak season (usually on April) it's obviously crowded. We went there this May2015. We were lucky enough that the beach wasn't so crowded. We really had all the time to enjoy the beach. Feeling the cool breeze of the wind that touches our skin. And feeling the cold dark night with the full view of the moon.
How to get there:
- From Cebu City you can get a jeepney bound for Danao or a Bus in North Bus Terminal. Travel time is about an hour or less for 25php only for jeepneys/ordinary bus and 50php for an aircon bus.
- From Danao port we took the one going to Consuelo port (2:00PM Danao Port Consuelo Jomalia Shipping)
- Fare is 180 for Economy and 200 For tourist. for more info check their page infos are updated http://camotesbestphotos.blogspot.com/2011/04/fare-to-camotes.html
- Upon arrival in Camotes island plenty of drivers will be awaiting for you. There is already a standard fixed rate to every destination. So I don't think haggling will do. hehe.
- Basic means of transportation in the island is motorcycle or the so called habal-habal standard rate is 50 per person.
Where to stay in Camotes:
If you are a budget traveler like me I would highly suggest you to stay in Dread House, Santiago White Beach. The owners are so friendly and accommodating. The room that we occupied is good for 2 persons and it only cost us 600php overnight. The room is decent enough to sleep and clean (fan room). and the most important thing for me everywhere I go is of course a clean bath/comfort room which they make sure that is being well maintained. They have rooms just right in front of the beach but unfortunately when we got there rooms were all occupied so we got the one which is located on a cliff not so high of a cliff but good enough that we had a full view of the beach and the night sky.

Now if you are up for an adventure "Hakuna Matata" my friend. Camotes has so much to offer to satisfy your thirsty soul for adventures.
What to do in Camotes:
First you need to take care of the vehicle you are going to use to explore the island but need not to worry motorcycles/habal-habal are everywhere. You can just compromise with the driver that would take you to the beach or better yet just approach the owner of the place you would be staying. With our experience we approached the owner. They let us charter their motorcycle for 400php (excluding the gas) from 10am-3pm since we didn't have so much time. We needed to catch the last trip at 5pm. The owners are so kind enough that they gave us a map/sketch where we would need to go so that we wouldn't be lost but we did it anyway and it was fun being lost and find your way back. Hahaha
(Usual rent for motorcycle whole day is 500php.)
Now are you excited for the adventure???
So good thing about chartering a motorcycle is that you can stop anywhere and take photos anytime you like. Was so stunned with this scenic view so we really stopped and there you go our first stop.

Second stop was in Buho Rock very famous with its Cliff Diving activity (20php entrance fee). I apologize for not jumping. I was a coward back then (hahaha) I know how to swim it's just that I am not so good at it I felt so terrified and I regret it. Good thing it's not too late for me I promised to myself that I will not be afraid anymore and will conquer everything no matter what I will just wear a life vest for safety..hahaha
